The Future Is Frufru is the first segment of 12th episode in season 3 of Harvey Street Kids. The title of the episode is a reference to the Madame Ghandi song The Future is Female.
Synopsis[]
Frufru pretends to be clairvoyant to convince the kids to sit next to her at lunch.
Plot[]
The episode begins with the Harvey Girls group, Lucretia, Tiny, The Bloogey Boys, The Bow and Billy where they are eating lunch as a group at picnic tables in the park, on scene Frufru arrives saying that the others are on their way. She heads to a lonely picnic table, where she flatters herself in the mirror and boasts of buying an exclusive product imported from Milan which is a Bobba crystal ball.
When she was looking for the kids' attention, nobody listens to her, so Frufru looks at herself in the mirror having a conversation with himself pretending to have fun, and her fun ends when she breaks her pocket mirror in a tantrum of frustration when nobody listens to her. Feeling lonely to the point where even some insects look down on her, Frufru wants to find a table buddy. However, she refuses to use manners saying that beautiful geniuses do not. When her third attempt to get attention doesn't work, she tries to trick the kids into pretending she's a clairvoyant and puts decorations on the table that say "Frufru the magnifique".
After showing off her crystal bobba, Frufru tells the kids that she knows the future and asks others to eat with her for more details. Dot is skeptical about this and tells her head-on, Frufru seeing that Lotta was drinking a soda, says that she is going to burp, which happens. The group of kids go and ask her questions, excepting The Bow, who declares her a witch and walks away while going on four limbs towards some bushes and Dot, whom nobody believed.
In the next scene, Frufru is full of kids asking her about his future. Tiny ask her if he will be tall, to which she says no, but when she sees him cry and try to withdraw, she says that she will consult it with her crystal ball and says that she will see him as a giant that crushes a city. Lucretia arrives and asks if her doll will become a dancer as her doll says, or she will become a comedian as Lucretia herself says. Frufru replies that Dollcretia will be both, so Lucretia sets out to find new material, where she jokes about dancers. Melvin asks him what he will have for dinner, to which Frufru predicts something that will make him fart, with him applauding. Subsequently, Audrey, Lotta and Richie ask off-camera questions to which Frufru answers that they will respectively have many explosions, hugs and money.
Richie asks in more detail which of the three simplified card investments will be better, to which Frufru says the cabins with pools for cats. Dot arrives with an annoyed expression saying that she misleads people, Frufru says the predictions led to this, with Dot responding that she expected worse things from her but manipulating is not the right thing anyway. Frufru is confident saying that it will have no consequences.
The next morning, Frufru wants them to accompany her again, but nobody listens to her. Dot offers to make friends the old-fashioned way by asking, but Frufru wants to give bad futures so that the boys have a dependent relationship with her. Frufru says that the boba is in retrograde and the futures that she predicted are not valid. Lucretia says she has already bought a dress for her doll and Lotta wants to know if her hugs will be safe. Dot tells the kids not to listen to her but nobody listens to her again, to which Melvin replies that Frufru already predicted that by passing him a note written on a sheet saying "Dot will be a buzz kill"
Frufru proceeds to tell Lotta that one of her rabbits will betray her, where in passing, she says that her predictions are more accurate at lunch as a way to avoid specifying; That's one of Richie's investments will fail; that Audrey will not have good explosions and will have an enemy looking to destroy her, to which Audrey blames a cloud shaped like her sister. Frufru asks the kids for bread since she is eating fondue and Dot wants them to discover the farce for themselves.
On Harvey Street, Richie is calling his investors desperately telling them to sell; Lucretia arrives on the scene asking to call 911, where she explains that Muñecrecia had an accident while doing a dance and comedy act, where her lock and right arm are cut; Tiny desperately ties up stilts; Lotta interrogates her rabbit Bloopers with a lamp and later with a lie detector. All while a screaming murmur is heard in the background, implying that other boys are complaining as well from a distance.
Dot tells Frufru that it was wrong, but she ignores it. The first shows her that Audrey is about to catapult herself into the Zoe shaped cloud and Melvin is conserving his gases in an inflatable castle for fear of losing them by a prediction, and Lucretia meanwhile imitates an ambulance siren as she's going in circles. Dot tells Frufru that Audrey will be catapulted to the castle where a gas bomb will be produced, so she asks to stop. Defensively Frufru calls her melodramatic and with a loudspeaker says that the waves of tapioca cancelled out the bobba in retrograde, so she says everyone to stop what they are doing.
The others do not fully believe her because Frufru supposedly sees the future during lunch, so the others continue to do their thing. Frufru imagines the worst scenario that this could cause, where she sees everyone affected as if a tear gas had been launched, while Dot sees her in a protective suit with a disappointed face. When she said that the others would continue having lunch with her, Frufru stops, tells the truth and the purpose for which she did it, explaining that she felt alone without her mirror to whom to speak. By the way, she starts crying because she believes that the whole neighborhood hates her for what she did along with saying that it is their fault for being so gullible.
Frufru starts to eat lunch alone in a corner of her patio crying while pretending that everything is fine. Dot accompanies her and tells her that deep down she was listening to others because she knew the things that others liked. The kids among them the rest of the Harvey girls, Lucretia, Melvin and Tiny also come to accompany her. The episode ends with Frufru disdaining the insects that mocked her when she was alone, to finally close the episode with an iris shot in the form of a fondue.

- Lotta's attempt to burp the alphabet was confirmed to a fart in Boy Story. Though she did burp after drinking soda in this episode.
- The Little' lad comic features logos that refer to Harvey Comics and the Comics Code Authority. Considering Harvey's logo design (A"H" with writing on it), this magazine appears to have been published between 1953 and 1959.
- A cat similar in appearance to Marco makes a cameo appearance on the cat pool cabin investment card.
