10 Things I Hate About Ew is the second segment of 9th episode in season 2 of Harvey Street Kids. The title of the episode is a reference to the 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You.
Synopsis[]
Lotta wants to compete with Melvin as she believes that the filthy subject of his videos will convert the street kids into a bunch of apathetic goths while the street lies in a deplorable state.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Lotta looking at a costume catalog for her rabbits. When she hears a scream from the girls, he goes to their aid, but they were only watching videos from the Melvin channel, which have a disgusting theme. One of these consists of Melvin spitting a green substance at Pinkeye. Lotta asks her rabbits to hand her pink glasses and says she hates that kind of video while mentioning that she can't beat the cute baby and animal videos.
While loading Melvin's video, Lotta has another apocalyptic vision, where all the street kids are in a gothic outfit with a depressed mood while standing on some bleachers in the middle of the street, which has cracks as if it were near a volcanic area. Melvin proceeds to eat various things while Lotta wonders how the street became so depraved, the gothic Lucretia mentions that after watching his gross videos, its the only thing that makes them feel something. When Melvin was about to spit out some chewed food or vomit over them, Lotta wakes up from her daydream.
When Lotta was predisposing to delete the video which she cannot, Dot suggests her to make her own videos since censorship does not work. Lotta, Dot and a hesitant Audrey are preparing to make cute videos in response. The girls do auditions for animals, where a yellow rabbit with hiccups was chosen. Although they had the same number of views as Melvin, he submits a comment for them to see another of his filthy videos that involves high amounts of sweat. Audrey likes the video, but Lotta looks at her angrily and tries to find out how to overcome it, one of these ideas is to use a rabbit that sneezes nearby.
Meanwhile, in the tree house, the boys react to Lotta's video saying that cute is not funny and lacks creativity, all while Pinkeye uses a spit as a gymnastic thread. Melvin then tries to make Pinkeye cry by reminding him of sad things, all so that his conjunctivitis, eye spills green liquid and uploads it to the internet. At this point in the story, both sides begin to bombard themselves with videos in order to gain multiple views.
The Harvey girls' videos consist of a puppy, cat in a mug, Billy dressed as a rocker, and a pug with ribbons. Melvin responds with a video of Fredo taking a mixture of various foods while spitting it out; Pinkeye wearing a Mexican hat and a top hat all made of boogers; and one of Fredo reacting to a dirty shoe.
Lotta meanwhile, tries to push for a baby chicken and a raccoon cub to hug. When Lotta sees Lucretia disguised as a beatnik as she philosophizes with her doll, Lotta thinks she's having symptoms of a gross overdose caused by Melvin's videos. So she has enough and challenges Melvin to a competition about who makes the best live event, and whoever loses must close their channel. The challenge is that Lotta must beautify a toad that always vomits mud while Melvin must make her pet hedgehog to look dreadful.
On stage, Melvin shows the hedgehog, but his attempt fails. When things looked good for Lotta, she introduced the toad and made him look good. However, the toad begins to inflate by not being able to vomit and ends up doing so by covering the entire public with mud, so she was about to lose. The hedgehog, however, washes the vomit of the toad and Lotta wins since even Melvin says that it seemed adorable. During the competition, she discovers that her dystopian fantasy did not come true, so she loses her fear of Melvin ruining the block. Melvin and Lotta make peace and agree that the former can continue to make gross out videos. The episode concludes with Audrey asking if it's okay to love the disgusting and the cute at the same time, while bragging that she said it was okay to eat a tuna and jelly sandwich. Audrey takes a bite out of it, but not before spitting it out to the audience saying "nope".
